Just like that, I am 2 weeks and 1 day out. (When the hell did this happen, by the way? I feel like I was 8 weeks out...last week.)
A lot of the little details that need to be sorted out have crept up on me.
For example, I need to figure out what to do with my hair.
This is my hair in its natural state. I normally don't do anything with it; I work in a pediatrician's office, so I just throw it up into a ponytail every day. I'm thinking about getting it highlighted, but then I'm not sure I want the upkeep.
I also usually don't wear make-up, and if I do, it's just concealer, mascara, and maybe a little blush. So I need to buy some stage-worthy cosmetics!
I also have to decide on what tanner to use - JanTana, ProTan, or DreamTan.
My last posing class is this weekend - it's time to make the final tweaks to really bring my personality into my posing =)
I really can't believe it's so close - one more week, then peak week, then the big day!
Happy weekend =)
I am so excited for you! Make sure you have someone to take lots of pics for us!
ReplyDeleteI like your hair just pulled up.....very pretty
Thank you! =) I'm gonna have a whole crowd in the audience haha =) Hopefully there will be lots of great pics!
DeleteHow do other girls wear their hair? I would just copy it. Something tells me to put it up so that your back muscles can be seen clearly. Happy make up shopping and spray (?) tanning! Are you getting crazy fake nails?!
ReplyDeleteUsually down, and kinda classic - think Prom. haha!
DeleteI'll probably get a french manicure =)
So exciting!!! Your back is looking awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe girls in the show I just went to all had their hair down (and lots with extensions). Most was loosely curled. I'm so glad min is short - one less decision to make!
I'm definitely thinking about extensions! They're the least commitment! haha!
DeleteI like your hair very much as it is - it's a wonderful length and thickness, but the colour is also so pure. It's obviously your hair but to me it looks lovely without highlights.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting so excited and nervous on your behalf, even though I know you're going to do well!
xxx
Thank you so much Jessica =) I think I'm just bored with my own hair and that's influencing my decision a little bit, lol!
DeleteSo close!!! Yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteT.
Seriously!!
DeleteMy vote: hair down, for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteLove JanTana!
Definitely. I think curly too =D
DeleteHey girl, I've been following your blog for awhile and want to say congrats on all your progress!!
ReplyDeleteI compete, and after trial and error with spray tan I would definitely use JanTana over the other ones you've mentioned. The best I've used is Liquid SunRayz, but I'm pretty sure it's only available up this direction! Another tip... even though it costs more, if your competition has a competition tanner it's so much easier than applying the color yourself. I've started doing that this year and it really relieves a lot of the stress!
Your hair is so pretty naturally, I would maybe highlight it to give it some pizazz under the stage light. Look at some of the bikini girls on RX Muscle Girl to get some more ideas- don't over bling and overdo it, just strut your swag on stage and you've got it! :) I also went to the MAC counter and had them help me with my makeup- stage makeup is different than an everyday look for sure.
Good luck! :)
Thank you SO much!!! It seems like JanTana is the popular favorite! I'll look into whether SunRayz is available here because I've heard really great things about that too.
DeleteThank you for the suggestion re. the gals on RxMuscle - I've been looking for a girl with what looks like similar hair to get inspiration!
I am getting so excited for you! I think you look fantastic and I hope you take a lot of pictures from the competition I wouldn't get highlights if I were you. I think you can buy a few clip on peices to fake highlights in your hair. Since your hair is long maybe do half up half down. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! =) I am thinking about the extensions - they're the least commitment/easiest I think!
DeleteFunny thing about time, it seems to accelerate as you head into the big day! You'll be just off-stage waiting to enter, and wonder how you got there!! It's so exciting. The ponytail is adorable, that's my vote!! Be you :-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Time is just WHIZZING by at this point!!!
Deleteomg, i cant wait for your competition pics! i wouldnt bother highlighting your hair, its a beautiful color. do a deep conditioning treatment (garnier fructis or pantene have good at home formula) now and next week, once a week. maybe loose curls, making sure the ones up front frame your face nicely. sparkly bangles on your wrists are always a good idea. and head to MAC or Urban Decay at sephora for a stage look--ask for samples of liquid foundation so that you dont have to buy a huge container of dark brown skin foundation :) Most importantly, HAVE fun, and dont stick your booty out TOO far..lol
ReplyDeleteaww thank you so much Liz!! =) I think I'm just bored with my hair and jonesing for a change, ya know? =)
DeleteI compleeeetely forgot bangles!! Crap!
Your hair is gorgeous! It seems they like the long all down curly but classy look.
ReplyDeleteI second the professional tanner. It is much less stressful and your colored will be spot on.
Thank you!!! =) =)
DeleteI'm going to contact my show's promoter to see if there will be tanning available at the event. Seems like the way to go!
What to add? If you have not started exfoliating, then start doing it. Just so your tan goes on evenly. The last show I helped with, I had a girl I did JanTana for who exfoliated for a week or two and hers went on flawlessly...another girl who didn't, not so much. You can mix a little brown sugar with body wash or you can mix dry coffee grinds with olive oil and it should do the trick. Also, if you have a pro-tan person on site the day of the show, they many times will have a make-up person. You can check with the promoter to see if this will be available and you can also see if there is anyone at your gym who does hair and see if they would mind doing it for you - and your posing coach may know of someone they can suggest. Bikini is definitely hair down, make-up and you can get press on nails for your hands and feet that will give the same effect as a mani/pedi. Get bikini bite...it works the best, and remember to have someone check your hiney before you go on stage (to check for bikini bite marks...it will take your pro tan off). You have worked very hard and I am excited for you! :):)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just started exfoliating my whole body last night thanks to your suggestion =)
DeleteI will ask about the makeup artist!
Thankfully I bought bikini bite with my suit - forgot about the bangles though =X
So exciting! I love that picture of you and your hair looks very cute. And sexy :-)
ReplyDeleteSeems like you might want to try those tanners out early. With two weeks to go you don't want to wait until the last minute to find out if it complements your skin. I see that someone above suggested a professional tanner and I think that's a good idea.
Good call! I'm ordering two different kinds today and I'll test them both out on a small patch of skin probably on my stomach to make sure I'm not allergic / I don't turn green. haha
DeleteWow where did the time go?
ReplyDeleteIt seems when you first start a prep it feels like forever, but time flies and before you know it you are on stage!!!
It's crazy!! I keep telling Max that's how it is - he's at the very beginning of his prep so he still thinks it feels like forever.
Deletehang on hang on... wait up...
ReplyDeletethat means I'm ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY OUT?
Whaaaat? ;D Time flies eh? It's crazy! I love sorting those last minute details, so exciting! If it helps (which it totally doesn't), I am getting a salon spray tan (Liquid Sun Rayz) then putting Dream Tan over the top on the day (at the venue). I need to sort my hair out too - I want some kind of up-do but I'm not great on doing hair!
GOOD LUCK for the final couple of weeks x
I KNOW! Shocking isn't it?!?
DeleteMy hair never stays put in up-dos and I am just horrible at fixing it myself =( That's my next self-improvement project though - I want to be good at doing my own hair!
You look awesome, Sable, and I'm so excited for you too! Where did the time go? I really like your hair's natural wave - perhaps going with that would be a good move, maybe keeping it as natural as possible for bikini? I think your hair, wavy but long, soft and feminine, it would really suit you. I don't know anything about tanners, and I have so many questions about them - like why contestants have to go SO brown. I do believe it's to help them look cut and toned... but it's so over the top sometimes! Like it's lacquer slathered on! From my dancing days, we used to put on very heavy dark make up or we would be washed out ghosts under the stage lights - so maybe it's me forgetting just how much those lights DO wash you out and that effect isn't visible in the normal photos we see probably under normal lighting.
ReplyDeleteAnyway you look awesome right now before any hair or makeup stuff so you will rock when you are all ready to go!!! Good luck!!!
Thank you Fi!!!
DeleteCompetitors get SUPER dark because the stage lighting is really, really, really bright & it just completely washes you out. Some of the tanners basically are lacquer! It's just kind of difficult because the whole idea of being on stage is to really showcase your muscle, but the stage lights basically make it invisible, so you have to go to extreme measures to correct that!
Love your hair! It is so pretty!!! It's exciting nearly here! I hope you have heaps of fun with it!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! =)
DeleteOooh oh oh! As a former bikini competitor and an IFBB finalist can I give some input!!!!???? Wear your hair down, get it down really big. Big hair Sable! And Protan is good. And big hair! Did I mention big hair! I cannot wait for you to step out on that stage, it's the best feeling! I can't wait for that post!
ReplyDeleteOh YAY big hair - I love big hair!!! =D
DeleteSo exciting! You have gorgeous hair. Though if you do get highlights and don't want to upkeep just let it grow out and you will have that ombré hair look that is so popular right now. Haha
ReplyDeleteTrue!!! I have been noticing that look on a lot of celebrities and it looks great on them! Of course I guess anything would. haha!
DeleteSo exciting! You have gorgeous hair. Though if you do get highlights and don't want to upkeep just let it grow out and you will have that ombré hair look that is so popular right now. Haha
ReplyDeleteHoly schmee! Well first, your back looks great and second you could do highlights and then let them grow out post stage? I'm doing lowlights myself soon. Anyway you choose, you are going to look gorgeous on stage! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I'm thinking about doing that - maybe just getting a feeeew highlights so it doesn't look completely ridiculous when they grow out?
DeleteI CANNOT BELIEVE IT'S SO CLOSE EITHER!? How exciting! It definitely crept up on me too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so surreal!! =)
DeleteDo your research as to what tanning product the show is sponsored by or associated with. Trust me on this one.
ReplyDeleteI've had a former client lose placing for using a tanning product that wasn't "approved".
Oh nooooo! It figures that the sponsor for the show is THE most expensive product - bleh. $110!!! Yikes!
Deletedefinitely hair down! for my back pose i simply sweep my hair to the side to show off my back:)
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking I'd do! =)
Deletei'm so excited for you! it's happening so quickly and i can't wait to cheer you on from all the way in cali! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much T!!!! =) <3
DeleteLowlights are less maintenance; the ombre trend grows out well, but I think it's a bit steep price-wise. Your hair is very pretty, though!
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's what I'll go with! I always think lowlights look so pretty & subtle.
