It has been crazy over here lately! I'm in week four of the six-week summer semester so I have literally been spending 30+ hours a week on homework - not including time spent in class! I can't wait until it's over. I have big plans to sleep for an entire day straight through.
That's not why you're here though! :) You're here to see my eats and workout.
I didn't photograph all my meals any day this week - they haven't really changed at all in the past eight weeks and I don't want to bore you.
Here are a couple of notable things I ate this week:
Turnip fries! SO GOOD. I followed this recipe but doubled it, omitted the oil and added two tablespoons each of chili powder and onion powder and they came out AMAZINGLY!
This:
is one of my favorite breakfasts when I'm feeling a little bloated. It's 1 egg, 1/2 cup egg whites, brussels sprouts and yellow squash, parsley, garlic, onion, paprika and chili powder. The brussels sprouts and parlsey are natural diuretics!
I also tried these:
which I won in Sara's giveaway! They were great! They tasted wonderful, which is certainly a rarity in amino acids, and didn't upset my stomach at all.
Annnd that's all the food pictures I have for you guys this week! LOL! I just don't want to keep boring you with the same old food over and over again.
Since I got so many compliments about my legs last week, I thought I'd show you all one of the staples in my leg training regimen. I LOVE Romanian Deadlifts. They are great for building your booty and hamstrings.
Of course, you shouldn't change your exercise program without consulting your physician, and you should always honor your body & past injuries =)

You may notice that I'm not using as much weight as I used to! Six months ago when I weighed ~135lb, I was doing these bad boys with 135+ pounds on the bar. In the video above, I'm only using 115. Some loss of strength is expected whenever you lose weight, but especially during contest prep and on a very low carb diet. I'm happy that my ratio of strength has remained about the same; in that video, I weighed 108lb which means I'm Romanian Deadlifting 106% of my body weight. Not bad at all - although I'll admit I can't wait to get back to building strength & gaining muscle again!
Happy Wednesday!
=)

Those eggs & turnip fries sound delicious!! I can't remember the last time I ate turnip (if ever for that matter) but definitely putting it on my grocery list this week! Nice going with the deadlifting- I like that you pointed out looking at weight lifted as "% of body weight" --> it's so easy to ask someone how much they lift without taking into account their body weight!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute;y! & I think it's really important for dieters to realize that they may not actually be losing pound-for-pound strength. It can be such a mind game!
DeleteThat was the only deadlift that I ever knew about in the beginning. I really like doing as single-leg. I feel like I somehow have better form, but could just be totally making that up LOL
ReplyDeleteI love/hate the single leg variation :/ it's so much harder!
DeleteSorry, I'm creeping on this post, but I LOVE single leg deadlifts, too. I struggle with some muscular imbalances and have noticed huge improvements from single leg training.
Deleteturnip fried sound awesome! I've done parsnip fries and loved them - i bet turnips are similar. will have to try them out!
ReplyDeletei'm interesting about the reduction in weight you can lift. i never thought of that! is it hard mentally after making gains in the first phases of training?
YES! lol. It makes me feel like I'm losing muscle/actual strength - I have to break it down & remember that I'm losing strength relative to my weight.
DeleteYou're at 108lbs??! Holy cow, lady! My strength has decreased in the past couple of weeks too. I've lost about five pounds (maybe? I've still got a good 40lbs on you! haha) and I can really feel it! Turnip fries are a great idea - I must try that!
ReplyDeleteIt stinks! I wish I could have the best of both worlds! lol!
DeleteThanks for posting the video sable :) I love seeing my girls perform the moves I do at the gym, too! I do deadlifts weekly and I have to admit, they are a wee bit scary but I do them :) I just like seeing you do them because now I can picture you as I do them :)
ReplyDeleteYou are suuuuch an inspiration my dear
They are SO much fun once you get used to them! <3
DeleteI def understand about not having too many different things to eat. As bloggers, I feel like as bloggers we feel like we have to eat different things (but def not the case with me ahaha)!
ReplyDeleteI'm too lazy for all that! lol plus it wouldn't be realistic at all.
DeleteTurnip fries! I've never thought of that! Have you tried butternut squash fries? My favorite!
ReplyDeleteYou look great, girl! I'm so excited for you!
Little tip if I may - tuck your chin on those RDLs! ;)
I have! I LOVE those!!! :D Especially done sweet with cinnamon & nutmeg - yum!
DeleteGood call!! I should've noticed that myself after watching it!
Holy 108? And you still have over 7 weeks until your show, right? Dang sweetie. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteI am, don't worry! =) I'm losing around a pound a week right now. Contest-weight is definitely NOT a healthy weight - but I'll only be staying there for a few days. I'd actually like to maintain around this weight =)
DeleteTurnip fries sound interesting! I've only ever had turnips mixed with butternut squash then mashed.
ReplyDeleteLove deadlifting!!
That sounds good!! I love butternut squash.
DeleteI've never eaten turnip, despite my mother trying to force feed it to me for years :-) but you've actually made it look enticing! I'm a sucker for anything covered in chilli powder. Legs are looking amazing! You make that lift look easy!!
ReplyDeleteI adore chili powder. I seriously put it on everything!
DeleteOh man I can't believe your weight loss! I was at that weight 5 years ago but had no muscle. Way to skinny for me. I bet you can't wait to regain all your strength back. I love deadlifting. All variations. Its probably one of my favorite exercises. Those turnip fries look so delish. Gonna have to try them for sure!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I can't wait to get back to convential deadlifting what I used to!! I miss people coming up to me to tell me I'm strong ;-) haha
DeleteTurnip fries, huh? I do love turnips but never thought of preparing them that way. Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI saw the video title before reading your description. I had heard of deadlifts, but not Romanian deadlifts, and I thought oh, she must have changed her name. Her name used to be Sable Romanian - ha!
LOL!!!!!!! hahaha that's too funny.
DeleteTurnip fries? Fun! All I ever really want out of any sports supp stuff is aminos. Glad you got some ;) It's going to be FUN building your strength back up after the comp though.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I'm really not big into fat burners or whatever - they never seem to work. Give me something tried, tested & true!
DeleteTurnip fries! Yum. I'm definitely going to try that. Now where do I buy turnips. Turnip greens I know, but not turnips.
ReplyDeleteI've had a hard time finding them =( They are at BJs sometimes with the root vegetables which is kind of odd since I don't really group them in with potatoes and onions. At Publix they're in the salad section of all places - haha! It seems like they're kind of hit or miss.
DeleteOH MY WORD I totally forgot about turnips! I gotta pick some up to make those fries-- they look so delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are my fave colored veggie to eat right now! SO good!
Deleteoh yes, i am working on my booty. Trying to get it back. Heavy lifting, dead lifts galore, and squats. YEA!
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah! That's the way to do it! :D
DeleteYou have the best food ideas. Don't stop sharing what you eat. I'm so nosy, it fulfills some aspect of my life! lol
ReplyDeletehaha! I won't! I promise I will actually take pictures of my food this week :P
DeleteI LOVE doing deadlifts!
ReplyDeleteThey are by far my favorite move!! While I'm doing them anyway. Afterwards when I'm like gasping for air not so much. lol!
DeleteLoving your Facebook group, Sable! I REALLY need to get more into working my lower body - mainly my pancake ass...haha! I love your tips and I need to add in more glute/lower bod exercises more often per week.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you joined!!!! =0)
DeleteYou do not have a pancake ass silly. <3
Who knew turnips made great fries? Thanks for sharing and thank you for stopping by my blog! I'm your newest follower. :)

I hope you try them!!! =) They are delish!
DeleteThose turnip fries look amazing! I'm having parsnip fries tonight, it's been too long.
ReplyDeleteAnd we're not just here to see your food & fitness, or i'm not anyway - i always love personal updates!
Have a great weekend babe!
Awww thank you!! =) You are too sweet =)
DeleteI think I've tried every vegetable in 'fry' form other than turnips. They look really tasty!
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't realise you only weighed 108lbs - for some reason I imagine you to be really tall (as in, about 5ft 9). Do you mind me asking how tall you are?
I suck at deadlifts - my form must be terrible because they always hurt my hips/lower back. Even when it's 8 reps or so I can only manage 70lbs tops *embarrassment*.
xxx
I wish!!!!! I am 5'1 at best =(
DeleteYour form might be fine - I get sore through my lower back & hips while deadlifting because I get a pump in my low back & the tiny muscles of my hips!
