WIAW: Contest Prepping on Father's Day

Here is a full day of eats, featuring Sunday, June 17.

Keep in mind that I'm in contest prep and this was an off day! =)

Eggs, asparagus, cauliflower & a carrot =)

Chicken, olive oil, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower

Chicken, broccoli & cauliflower, and almonds

Chicken, olive oil, asparagus, broccoli, and cauliflower

Salmon &  olive oil topped with fresh rosemary and oregano, sea salt, and red pepper flakes. Unpictured: more veggies, of course! =)

If you're wondering, yes, I did bring those two tupperware meals with me to our father's day celebration. Everyone is well aware of my goals and I've found that no one minds as long as I eat with everyone else and I look healthy. ;-)

Have you ever brought your own food to a family function?

  2. Yeppers! My family is used to the way I eat now...so much so that my mother usually asks and makes something that she know I will eat too. I can just imagine your food prep....that's A LOT of chicken. :D

    1. It is!! I haven't been keeping track of exactly how much the COOKED weight is but I buy and go through 7.5+ lbs of raw chicken a week. And that's just me - Max hates chicken breast! I am pretty sure I spend like 20 hours cooking & food prepping a week right now haha. It's a good side job...if only it paid ;-)

  3. Have food will travel :) I pack my meals anytime I need to and for the most part friends and family don't even notice anymore. I get a lot of questions and everyone is very supportive :)

    1. haha that's pretty much the point I'm at too.. although prior to setting my sights on this contest (8 weeks ago) I would eat a small serving of whatever the family was having, so it has been a little bit of an adjustment...for them and for me!

  4. I've only ever packed foods for my kids! I've never been on any kind of regimented diet though.

    1. I don't have my own kids but I was a nanny for years and honestly packing those kids' lunches may have been even harder!!! I will gladly eat the same thing over and over, but kids? Not so much. haha!

  5. Wow, Sable! You’re doing great with your food choices while preparing for your contest.
I’ve never brought anything just for myself to family gatherings. I rather make a lot of food (which is safe for me) and take it for everyone to taste, so I don’t need to explain myself to everyone. Last time it was a bucket of grilled shrimp.
It’s so nice your family supports you on your goals.
    xo.

  6. Now THAT is clean eating! I really admire your dedication to contest preparation, particularly the food aspect. It's gotta be so hard to make the most of every single calorie but I'm sure it will be SO worth it when you're up on that stage and you feel fantastic about that body of yours!

    1. Exactly!! That's what I'm focused on and that end-goal and vision of myself on stage is what makes it easy!!

  7. You are so good! Lend me some of your motivation?

  8. Wow, I am blown away at how you brought your own food AND actually ate it, instead of what everyone else likely was. When your contest is over, could I perhaps borrow some of your willpower? ;)

    1. haha! Thank you! Most of my motivation is stemming from the fact that in 12 weeks and 3 days (87 days!!!!!!), I'll be standing on a stage in a bikini!! LOL!

  9. Yay, finally some blog food that looks like my food! Haha my brother in law actually asked me if I was going to bring my own tupperware to our Sunday lunch, and when I said no he was shocked!! Everything we eat there is super healthy anyway - just meat and vegetables, so I don't mind eating it. If I was in contest prep it would be a different story though ;)

    1. That's always what I order when I go out with family! Or, used to, before I had to start measuring EVERYTHING (including veggies) for prep haha. "Grilled chicken and seasonal veggies" is always a safe choice!!

  12. I have never brought full tupperware like that, but I have brought along snacks, nuts, etc for during the day. Oh - and oatmeal on vacation for breakfast!

I absolutely LOVE those cocoa roast almonds. I buy two containers every week and they never last that long - and I'm the only one who eats them!

  13. Oh yes I have...but I have put it on a regular plate not to stick out so much...close to my show last year I had to prep my own food, luckily my whole fam was super supportive and no one really questioned me at all...I just did my thing and that was that!
