I am participating in WIAW again this week, but this time I've got a day of workout eats to show ya!
Heeeere we go!
Chicken, peppers, and BBQ sauce and egg whites with American cheese & ketchup
Salad with light Ranch
Shrimp with a little bit of Smart Balance Light, herbs, and baby portabella mushrooms!
Salad with Balsamic :D
3 eggs over hard
Roasted baby 'bellas
Extra-lean ground beef with chopped onions and mushrooms
And my fave:
450g of sweet taters, roasted, with two tablespoons of Mighty Maple PB :D

And now for the highlight of my day.... my deadlift workout! Bear in mind that I am still coming back from an injury - but I felt damn good about this workout. (Courtesy of Jay Ashman.)
Conventional Deadlift:
185x4, too light
195x4 with 2 reps left in the tank - double overhand grip, no chalk (because I am crazy, I think - seriously don't know why I did this)
185x4, 185x4
Snatch Grip Stiff-Legged Deadlift (the snatch grip makes these more difficult than standard stiff-legged DLs because it extends the ROM)
135x6
145x6 (one rep left in the tank, double overhand grip w/o chalk again)
140x6
Back Extensions:
3x12 holding 25# dumbbell
Glute-ham raise sit-ups:
3x10
20 min cardio
And that's a wrap on my day! =)
PS: As always, this is just what works for me! =) I am also cutting.
Mmm baby portabellas are the best :) And I can only begin to imagine how epic what sweet potato tasted. MAPLE pb?! Yes please! :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great Wednesday Sable!
It's definitely the best PB flavor!!! Blows dark chocolate dreams out of the water =D
DeleteLove bellas and sweet potatoes. I've not added PB or almond butter to sweet potatoes yet, but I keeps seeing people do that. I imagine it's fantastic! Nice workout too!
ReplyDeleteIt is!!!! Try it :D
DeleteThat is a lot of sweet potato!! I remember when my trainer gave me 20g of sweet potato in one of my meals, and I was thinking he had to be joking!! Haha
ReplyDeleteI love how a 185 deadlift is 'too light' for you. I pulled 165lbs for 3 reps yesterday and was quite proud of myself ;)
Ugh what is the point of 20g of sweet tater?! That's like...a bite. haha!
DeleteI still remember the first time I got 165 off the ground!!!
That's what I said! It was torture because I love my carbs. I used to make fries, and it was literally two fries. Not enough! Haha thankfully I'm not doing that anymore ;)
DeleteThose sweet potatoes are making me hungry. Must get some!
ReplyDeleteI've been loving sweet potatoes lately! I think I'm entering a sweet tater phase ;-)
DeleteI have sweet potatoes and almond butter. I've never thought to combine them! Must try soon!!!
ReplyDeleteI was skeptical at first but it's a great combo!!!!
DeleteOh my gosh. Sweet potato and peanut butter. Best combo ever! I would have been in heaven.
ReplyDeleteIt is really good!! I didn't expect it to be good at first but it's such a perfect pairing!
DeleteThat shrimp looks tasty!!!!
ReplyDeleteT.
I love shrimp! I used to eat them every day but alas...too pricey =(
Deleteeggs over hard? i've never had them prepared this way! how intriguing. do you not like runny yolk?
ReplyDeleteI had a runny egg phase but I overdid it and burnt out. LOL!!
DeleteSweet potatoes with PB is incredible! Sometimes I mash it all up in a bowl and eat it with a spoon.
ReplyDeleteI'm stealing this idea today =D
DeleteI do the same but I freeze the mashed potatoes first. Makes for good dessert.
DeleteMmm I keep seeing WIAW posts with sweet potatoes again (adding them to my grocery list)!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think your day needs more chocolate. ;)
You may be onto something!!! ;-)
DeleteNOM I love sweet potatoes! I look forward to them on leg days...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of leg days I lOVE your dead lift routine. I have a habit of picking one exercise like dead lifts but then varying the positions/grips/stances and just focusing on dead lifts for the day. Like today I did a bunch of rows but in different ways. If you're ever down for some lifting chats let me know! I'd love to hear what you have to say :)
Ahh I'd love to! =) Of course I can't claim responsibility for any of my workouts or anything - all credit goes to Jay, my awesome coach - BUT I have been obsessively studying this stuff for over 2 years now haha! Email me!! Sable.Weisman@gmail.com =)
DeleteHmm, roasted baby bellas, I've never thought of that before, do they keep well? How far in advance could I make them I wonder..... must try this.
ReplyDeleteI keep them raw for up to 10 days in the fridge, and when I roast them they've kept in the fridge for up to 4-5 days!! =)
DeleteYou are so dedicated with your eating and training - I wish I had your resolve!
ReplyDeleteSweet potatoes with Maple PB sounds like my idea of heaven. I'd be looking forward to it all day.
xxx
Thanks Jessica!! =) It's become second nature at this point lol!
Deletethis is a dumb question, but is a double overhand grip exactly what it sounds like...having both hands the same way rather than turning one hand around? I guess I always do double overhand.
ReplyDeleteThe coach at the gym gets a little antsy when the chalk leaves the pull-up area, so I've never used chalk on lifts.
I'm jealous of your sweet potato - they look delicious.
Not a dumb question!! =) That's exactly what it means. You should try a reverse grip (one hand overhand, one hand underhand) - it realllly helps you hold the bar for much longer!!
DeleteYay, I love hearing other people use Smart Balance too! Jealous of your workout. I want to come with :)
ReplyDeleteI love Smart Balance!!! I haven't used anything else for yeeeeears. "Real" butter or margarine tastes weird to me now!
Deletewowza - those sweet taters look awesome - like orange balloons of flava! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are eating all of my favorite foods. eggs, mushrooms, PB, sweet potatoes. I could eat with you every day and be pretty darn happy. :)
