Mother's Day Gifts for a Fit Mama

If you're anything like me, you forget about Mother's Day until, oh, three days before it happens every year.

This year I set myself a reminder in Google Calendar, so luckily I have time to shop.

Here's a list of gift ideas for a fit (or getting-fit!) mama! =)

Note: All Amazon links take you to the product's page on Amazon. If you buy it, you'll pay the regular price and I'll earn 4% of the sale price.

1. Pedometer

This is a great gift for anyone who is beginning their fitness journey; it lets you track your activity level and increase it to gradually get fitter!

2. Heart-rate monitor

Source: Amazon!
I love using a HR monitor to measure my intensity. Heart rate monitors are definitely not just for cardio queens; mine keeps me honest when I'm lifting. If it doesn't peak to at least 165 during a max-effort set, I know it's not really a max-effort set. Bonus: this one's pink and super cute.

3. Healthy Bites

Source
I actually got these for Grammie for Mother's Day last year! =) She loved them. And can I just say....the customer service was EXCELLENT! Lindsay tracked the package and emailed me right away when it was delivered so I could tell Grammie to pull them out of the mailbox! =)

4. A food scale (this link takes you to the exact one Max & I have used for the past 2 years)

We use a digital OXO scale
The only reason I think I was actually successful with my initial weight loss (and the only reason I think this cut is going decently despite being derailed by an injury and a grieving period) is because I use a food scale. It's so easy for me to use rounded cups and tablespoons and wind up eating hundreds of extra calories a day if I use measuring cups or go by sight. Some people may be able to hold themselves accountable and use reasonable portion sizes without a food scale, but I find that a food scale instantly makes weight loss or maintenance easier.

5. An experience.

If you live near your mom, rent a kayak for a couple of hours, pack a picnic and take a scenic hike, or even sign up for a yoga class together. I personally prefer experience-type gifts; I love making memories! :)

What are you doing for Mother's Day? Do you have a fit mama? :)

  2. I agree - Healthy Bites are a winner! Love the idea of fit gifts for mom. I think my mom would prefer the experience - more like an easy hike and picnic.

  4. I'm a mama and I'd forgotten about Mother's day. Thanks for the reminder! :)

LOL...I have all those things (except for the healthy bites.) I'm going to be requesting an experience this year. I'd prefer it to be outdoors so I hope the Seattle weather cooperates!

  6. I am blessed to have a permanent Mother's Day Gift....My beautiful daughter, Sable, was born on May 10th. She was born on the Thursday before Mother's Day and every year her birthday is near or on Mother's Day. My beautiful daughter is the best gift I could ever have. I love you, Sable!

    Love, Mama Squat XOXOXO
