Gooooooooood morning bloggies!
Just to get this out of the way: Yes, I was supposed to hear back about nursing school by the 9th. Given that Max and I are basing our where-are-we-living decision on my acceptance letter or lack thereof, I was That Girl and called on the 9th to politely inquire whether the acceptance letters had been sent.
"We are actually in the process of sending them now."
Um hello? You are accepting twenty students? Are you handwriting each letter and telling each candidate exactly why they were accepted?....
But I digress. Beyond my control and all that.
Also beyond my control:
Microwaving oat bran. This is the third time this has happened in two days.
Oh well. The whole weekend is not a total loss; after all, there's nothing that a good cookie can't cure.
Everything You Would Ever Want in a Cookie Cookies
These are not healthy in any way. They are dairy-free to prevent Round Two of Sable vs Lactose (lactose is up 1-0) and are actually vegan. And check out what all is in them:
Oh yeah. In case you can't tell, that is (clockwise from left): Smart Balance Buttery Spread (naturally vegan!), Aunt Jemima maple syrup, locally grown whole wheat flour, dates, old-fashioned oats, dark chocolate chips, coconut flakes and Splenda Brown Sugar blend. (Baking powder and baking soda are unpictured. Oops.)
And just what is the cookie-making occasion, you ask?
I want to help raise money for The Great Fundraising Act. So, natch, I'm testing cookie recipes. This is the front runner fo sho. I ate three before they'd even cooled off. Max, being Mr. Portion Control, only had one but said it was awesome. (And he is a TOUGH CRITIC you guys.)
So if you want a batch for yourself, bid on July 25th! Cancer is a cause that is close to my heart and I'd love to help do some good. And, hopefully, satisfy one of your sweet teeth. :)
Happy Monday!! <3
ah i HATED playing the waiting game with nursing school. hope you hear soon!
ReplyDeleteWaiting really is not my strong suit. That has to be the worst (next to exploded oats LOL).
ReplyDeleteErik is a tough critic too so whenever he likes something it MUST be good, ha.
ReplyDeleteHope you hear about nursing school soon!!!
ugh! so sorry for the delay in the acceptance letter!!! Painin the butt!!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!! I have my fingers crossed (still...haha they are never going to uncross at this point) to hear early this week!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so stressful to be waiting extra time to figure out what your big life decisions will be. So, I guess it is a good thing for cookies and other stuff that make life less stressful.
ReplyDelete:-) Marion
My fingers are crossed tightly for you!! I can't wait to hear the news :)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that you hear soon.
ReplyDeleteHey darlin! sssoo Ive totally been there with the oatbran...seems to happen to me at least once a week..haha..
ReplyDeleteIm sssoo crossing my fingers for ya!! Playing the waiting game is the hardest thing ever sometimes. I hope you hear back soon! Btw, those cookies sound delish!
Cripes! They could not just tell you on the phone? I mean out of 20 names they could remember yours! I would have SO been that girl. and the "can't you just tell me" girl. Patience is not a virtue in Munchberryland. While I was hiking the only thing that came out of my mouth (besides I need to stop and WATER! were "I wonder if my bloggyfriend Sable got into her nursing program". And I come home to still not knowing! I cannot take the suspense. These people are sadists I tell you!
ReplyDeleteSigh. I too will keep my fingers crossed AND not to be outdone by other commenters I will also tie a red bow around those fingers so they will not loose their crossiness! But not too tight as to form a tourniquet. I need my middle finger for people who raise my impatience ire and my pointer for accusatory emphasis!
Oh the cookies. A sign of progress that I did not ask about them first! Splenda comes in brown sugar?
Max and his portion control! Precisely why I need those fingers.
grumble grumble grumble.
They DO look good. I need to go find that Splenda. Yes. NEED!
good luck!!! i hate waiting around for decisions - it's the worst!
ReplyDeleteI Hate when my oats blow up in the microwave...I've done that so many times haha!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely bid for your cookies! :)
I'm currently engaged in my own little war against lactose (a week as a vegan proved what I had suspected - milk makes my IBS worse) so I'm interested to hear about yours :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the fundraiser! It looks like it's US only, but I'll definitely putting some money into local equivalents!
Mmm.. a good cookie does fix everything ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso.. maybe the oat bran wouldn't explode if you covered it with a paper towel? I have tried that with other soupy liquids and it works !
hahaha I am glad I'm not the only one who blows up such simple things as oats in the microwave. Ooof.
ReplyDelete@Munch -- I'm so touched you thought of me!!!!! :) That made me smile so big.
hoping for the best, I'm the worst at waiting!!!
ReplyDeleteCOOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck, after my post today, you know I was all over this! :-)
ReplyDeleteI hoe that letter comes soon!!!!
Ugh - I hope you find out soon! It's like come on, I don't need an engraved invitation just tell me already!!!
ReplyDelete@fittingbackin -- oh my gosh exactly. This could be the ugliest letter in the most tattered, gross envelope EVER and I would be fine. Sheesh!
